*ahem* Erm… Is this working, Tessa?

Press that button there.

Oh yes, splendid, thank you love!

H-hello, this is Matheo Vega speaking. Today marks the official beginning of my research project! I really am quite excited, the data I’ll obtain from this will aid generations to come- oh, aw hello Haziel, have you come to say hello?

[infant laughter]

Haha, it seems my son wishes to become an avid researcher like myself! No don’t chew on the microphone lad, you’ll hurt your teeth. Er, Tessa would you mind?

Very well.

[Haziel’s babbling slowly quietens as he is moved away from the microphone]

Anyways… Let’s start over shall we. This is Matheo Vega reporting, head researcher of the Project Nocti division, Prima Centauri. Time of recording: 16:24, 5th November 1889.

Reto, hm? A relative of Elijah I gather. A small world, it seems! Alright.

Section 1.1 [A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THESSERIN]

The great lands of Thesserin are diverse and varied, home to several mighty regions who have lived in harmony for centuries. Formed from the handiwork of the gods that resided before us, humans have been granted the tools and resources to grow and thrive as a community, and ward off the woes of all evils that may torment us.

Section 1.2 [CORALIA]

The magnificent region of Coralia is by area, the largest of the regions within Thesserin. Sprawling across the northern regions, it is home to lush forests and vast lakes, allowing for life to flourish. With such a noble patron deity as that of Calarel, blessed be his name, the inhabitants of Coralia are honoured with great prosperity and health.

Section 1.3 [VELKOS]

A minor island off the south-eastern coast of Coralia. As of time of publishing, Velkos is deemed a close ally to Coralia, and is a prime source of agricultural produce thanks to its fertile soil throughout the island. While many inhabitants live a farming lifestyle, Coralia opens its arms to those who wish to explore the bountiful opportunities that it has to offer, in humble exchange for trading goods and political allyship.

Section 1.4 [CORVYE & PRETHIS ISLES]

Considered by most to be a desolate wasteland, the dwellers of Corvye are of rather the bloodthirsty sort, as per adventurers’ reports. According to myth and legend, these creatures were formed from the blood of the dark deity Naravi, fueled with hatred and malice. Many deem the Southern Lands to be of the cursed nature, both land and inhabitants alike – few from other regions have returned with environmental details, and those who have dare not bring forth memories of such a place and its residents in such a holy land as that of Coralia.

Section 1.5 [OUTER WARDS]

Past the great Northern mountains of Coralia, the Saphiros Ocean and beyond lie the Outer Wards. Very little is recorded about the Wards of time of publishing; adventurers have barely returned with their lives after research trips. Rumours claim that there are unimaginable terrors that reside within the Wards, more so than those within the Southern Lands.

Right, splendid, I’d say that went rather we-

“GAH!” Tessa dove her hand into the reader and snatched the vocanotis casing out, its wiry innards spilling out as the reader whimpered from the sudden aggression. Clutching the fractured casing in her hand, she threw it across the room, soon splintering into pieces as it skittered along the cold stone floor.

Silence.

Taking a controlled breath, she braced her hands on either side of the glass covering of the reader.

“What an utter fool.”
